Installing the Rotary Switch Array Panel Model 2275
USB Junction Box
The 2130 is a device that allows easy connection of up to 20 Toggle Switches to the USB Port on your computer. Just solder the wires from a standard RCA shield Cable to a Toggle Switch and plug it directly into the 2130. A GREAT device for thoses having little or no Electronic Experiance.
The USB Elevator Trim Wheel is a 7.5 inch Diameter Plastic Wheel mounted on a Black plastic cabinet with a 2 foot USB Cable running from the back. To install, just plug this cable into an available USB Port on your computer. Program into your Flight Simulator and Stand Back for the "TIME of YOUR LIFE"
Hilo Controller
Model 2310/ 2312 accept 5 Analog, 12 Digital Inputs and a Top Hat switch (also called a "Coolie" and POV). The resolution of 12-bits (2312) will provide you with the Ultimate Directional control needed for all your flights. Use it to fly your Bell, Robertson ect. Hilos. Stop by for a look.
The 2250 allows you to add up to 15 spring return push button switches to your flightdeck. Not only does each of the 15 switches deliver a 1/4 second pulse that is easily programmable for just about any flight function, the 2250 also provides a controlled voltage that is easily wired to the internal bulb in the switch.
Installing and programming the 2275 Encoder Switch Array Panel requirs very little time. All you need is an unused USB Port. Additional Ports can be added to your computer by using a device called a "USB Hub". These Hubs can be purchased for as little as $20.00 on the Internet.
Just plug the USB Cable from the 2275 into an
unused USB Port on the rear of your computer. The
computer will sense the Panel and load the required
software for its proper operation. The 2275 will be
sensed as "DTA Rotary Encoder".
To verify that your computer has accepted the Panel, you can goto the "Game Controller" window. To do this, just click on "START" (located in the lower left hand corner of the coputer's monitor); then click on "Control Panel" then "Game Controller". Your computer will display the following:
Then "Double Click" on "DTA Rotary Encoder"; then the following window will be displayed:
Downloading and Programming the Utility Driver Software
For the proper operation of the Rotary Switch Array Panel, you need to Download the Encoder Utility Program. This program allows you to adjust "Pulse Timing" and "Pluse Width" on each of the 6 Available Rotary Switches on the 2275 Panel. The program will also allow you to connect a number of Rotary Encoder Boards to the USB Port of same computer while allowing you to keep track on timing pusles on each and every Rotary Switch available on your system.
To the left is a photo of the Encoder Utility Program showing suggested settings for the first six Rotary Switches.
Please note that the Utility Program shows 16 available Rotary Switches, these aditional settings are for future expansion and is not available on the 2275 at the moment.
Take note that you will need to "set" the first 6 "Encoder Input Pair". It is sugested that you first set the ratio to 1:2; with a "Pulse Width" of 96mSec. These settings (1-2 to 11-12) can be
easily changed if you find that other settings provide a better output to your computer's USB Port. The next 6 "Input Pairs" MUST be set to "OFF". 13-14 to 17-18 provide a digital input that is connected to Rotary Encoder Switch's internal spring return push button. Just by pressing the switch's knob, you can light up the corresponsing RED Button.
The number pair to the right of each setting shows the "Control Panel" RED dot that will be lite when the Rotary Switch is turned. Example: Turning the HDG knob to the LEFT, this will light-up the #1 RED Button (quick pulse) as seen on the "Control Panel" window. Turn the same Rotary Switch to the RIGHT, the #2 RED Button will light with a short pulse. If turning the DG switch to the LEFT then to the RIGHT will light (again a pulse) the RED #7 and then the RED #8. Get the idea?
Please note; Unlike our Older Model 2270, the 2275's Rotary Encoders do not contain a Normally Open switch that closes when the encoder's shaft is pressed.
On the top he Utility Program window, you will notice "Serial Number". Here you can set the timing and pulse duration for a number of 2090 Boards connected to your computer. This Serial Number will change when additional boards are added. Just select the Board you wish to program via its Serial Number, then set the timing pulse for the sugested 1:2 and Pulse width to 96 ms. By using the Serial Number, you will be not only be able to connect the 2270 panel to your computer's USB Port but also our 2090 Encoder Board without any conflicks.
The 2275 comes with a faceplate already silk-screened with a few flight functions that use a rotary encoder switch to set their Frequency, Altitude, Heading ect. but can be changed to any other needed flight function.
It is highly recommended that you purchase a licensed version of FSUIPC. This inexpensive add-on program allows you the freedom of 150+ functions; where as FSX will allow only about 40. So take the time to goto: FSUIPC and purchase the correct version for the flight sim program you are running.
With FSUIPC properly installed (see the instructions that come with your FSUIPC purchase), you are now able to scroll through all functions that uses a rotary encoder switch for their settings. Which knob you decide to control a function is up to you.
